PASTOR DAVID M. NELSON


Reverend David M. Nelson is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized into the body of Christ at the historic Morris Chapel Baptist Church.

Reverend Nelson attended St. Joseph's University as a recipient of The Scholar Academic Scholarship, where he received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology. It was during the St. Joseph years that Reverend Nelson accepted his "Call into the Ministry"; he preached his Initial Sermon in October of 1996; in February of 1997, he was licensed to Preach; and in 2000, he was ordained as a Preacher of the Gospel under the leadership of the late Reverend Boyd E. Rodgers. Determined to advance his education, Reverend Nelson obtained a Master's of Education Degree from Lincoln University. His Master's research, which pertained to Cultural Diversity, received the Most Outstanding Thesis Award. While attending Lincoln University, Reverend Nelson served faithfully as the Assistant Pastor and Youth Minister at Morris Chapel Baptist Church. Under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, his gifts of teaching and preaching of God's Word have been fruitful in bringing souls to Christ. Later in his ministry, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Reverend Nelson united with the Union Baptist Temple Church where the Reverend Albert L. Morgan serves as Pastor and is best known as 'The mailman'.

In May of 2007, Reverend Nelson accepted the invitation from the New Hope Baptist Church to serve as Senior Pastor/Teacher; June 10, 2007, he preached his first sermon as Pastor. Reverend Nelson continues to study the Word of God: to equip the saints for the work of ministry, which will result in the building up of the body of Christ. Currently, he is attending Ashland Theological Seminary to earn a Master's of Divinity in Practical Theology.

Reverend David M. Nelson is the thankful husband of First Lady Carla R. Nelson, and the blessed father of three children, Walter, Andrew David and Ava Grace. "To God Be the Glory for the Great Things He's Doing!
